COLLAGE QUIILTING

"Floral Elegance"

My most popular workshop is in collage quilting. In this class students learn fabric collage techniques while making an easy yet elegant looking floral wall hanging. The class covers numerous techniques including making bias stems, fusing, broderie perse, several embroidery techniques using a variety of interesting threads, silk ribbon embroidery, using beads for highlights, texture and dimension, and adding buttons and other embellishments for visual interest and impact. Students bring their own supplies but I supply additional fabrics, unusual threads, and numerous embellishing "goodies." We share and swap resulting in interesting, unique, and very creative designs.

NEW TECHNIQUES

"Seed Packet Block"

An all day workshop in which students learn new collage techniques (from Holiday Collage Quilts) while making a unique Seed Packet Block. Techniques include Dimensional Motifs, Making Polymer Clay Embellishments, Beaded Fringe, and Beaded Lettering. This is a fun and very creative workshop for students of all abilities.

CRAZY QUILTING

An all day workshop in which students learn to do traditional crazy quilting. Basic piecing, numerous decorative hand stitches, and embellishing techniques are taught. Use of color, fabric selection, and design options are discussed. We explore interesting and unique ways to combine decorative machine stitching with hand worked accents. I bring many samples to illustrate a variety of ways to incorporate crazy quilting into very contemporary and original quilts. Students complete a 12" crazy quilt block. A complete kit is available for this class.
