As a quilt artist, I am enthusiastic about finding new ways to
combine contemporary techniques with traditional quilt methods. I have a
degree in Art and Art History and over 25 years of experience in the
sewing and crafts industry. My work is characterized by the use of
large, vibrant images in floral and landscape designs. Combining
traditional piecing and appliqué with numerous embellishing techniques
including broderie perse, silk ribbon embroidery, beading, and
embellishing provides a wonderful canvas for innovative and contemporary
quilt art. I am drawn to quilting as a medium for artistic expression
because of the tactile and dimensional quality that comes from working
with fabric, threads, and all types of embellishing techniques.
My work has been published quilt magazines and exhibited in several
major quilt shows. I am the author of two books, Fabric Collage
Quilts and Holiday Collage Quilts (That Patchwork
Place). Both books explore contemporary, pictorial quilting through
innovative techniques and designs.
